St. Thomas is growing! With new private and public sector investments happening city-wide, the expectation is that the population will grow from 45,000 to nearly 80,000 by 2050. Naturally, this means that we need to consider what the community will need in the future, including essential infrastructure, transportation improvements, parks and recreation amenities, new schools, and much more. In this light, what is the future of the local arts & culture sector?  

Renewing an Education & Tourism Destination

Our team at Andrew Gunn Consulting and young & free press are thrilled to share that we will be working in collaboration with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Foundation to assist with the renewal of the Indigenous Learning Centre & Ska-Nah-Doht Village at Longwoods Road Conservation Area. This is a new project for us, and a very special one, as so many people have a strong sense of connection to the site.

New Donation to the STEAM Centre Supports Innovative Education Programs

The STEAM Centre is very pleased to announce a contribution of $135,000 from a generous local donor to support the continuation of both the ‘STEAM Community Studio’ and the ‘Students Build Cities’ program in collaboration with Thames Valley District School Board and the team at young & free press. Through these programs, local elementary, secondary and even post-secondary students have the opportunity to contribute ideas to shape innovative community projects.

TVDSB and 'young & free' to Deliver Innovative Experiences for Local Students

Our team at young & free press is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with the Thames Valley District School Board. From January to June 2021, we will be designing unique, challenging, and memorable learning experiences that will engage elementary and secondary school students directly in real-life projects. The pandemic is limiting how much students can connect right now with local businesses and organizations. We view this as an opportunity to try a new approach that puts students front and centre!

Estate of Donna Bushell Supports the Rotary Music Festival with $30,000 Donation

The Estate of Donna Vera Evans Bushell has donated $30,000 to The Rotary Club of St. Thomas Foundation, which includes $20,000 to establish new awards for the Rotary Music Festival. Additionally, $10,000 has been provided to establish a ‘Music Student Fund’ to allow the Rotary Music Festival to support participating students who may require assistance to compete at the Festival or in higher competitions.

Introducing the New ‘STEAM Community Studio’ at the STEAM Centre in St. Thomas

Our team at young & free press is excited to announce that the Estate of Donna Vera Evans Bushell is contributing $225,000 to the STEAM Centre in St. Thomas to introduce the new ‘STEAM Community Studio’ … this is a ground-breaking new program that focusses on experiential learning and civic engagement to foster collaboration between students and key community stakeholders including academics, teachers, and political, community and business leaders.
