Music at the St. Thomas Public Library, Indoors & Outdoors
A donation of $5000 has been provided to the St. Thomas Public Library to support musical performances on-site. Specifically, the funds will be used to invite musicians to play in the new indoor / outdoor space that will connect the Library to Westlake-Evans Civic Park, which is currently under construction next door. The contribution was arranged by our own Andrew Gunn & Maddie King through a generous local donor.
“In 2020, our team arranged a donation of $500,000 from the Estate of Donna Bushell to the City of St. Thomas to help build Westlake-Evans Civic Park,” notes Andrew Gunn. “With construction of the park well underway, we are thrilled that community members are now looking at ways to assist with the development of programming for the space. This new $5000 contribution will allow the Library to welcome musicians to play the piano that will be installed in the southeast corner of the building, where the window will be replaced soon with a distinctive door that will open up and let the sound carry into the park, adding to the atmosphere outdoors. We are deeply thankful to the Library for working with us to make this happen.”
“The Library is excited to welcome this new musical space,” comments Heather Robinson, CEO of the St. Thomas Public Library. “It opens up many opportunities to have music shared with our community and to have it enjoyed, not only within the Library but also in the Westlake-Evans Civic Park. This donation will allow us to ‘dream into’ the new space and to plan musical events that will animate it.”
